Communities in Delta endorse Obomovo for 2027 House of Reps seat

A wave of political momentum is building in Delta State as communities across Isoko North Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind prominent real estate developer and All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Sir Blessing Oghale Obomovo, endorsing him as their sole candidate for the Isoko Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement, described by stakeholders as historic and unanimous, came during a well-attended gathering held on Tuesday at Opute Hall in Ozoro.

The event drew political leaders, traditional authorities, women groups, and youth representatives from Ozoro and Otor-Owhe Kingdoms, all united in support of Obomovo’s candidacy.

Obomovo, the Chief Executive Officer of Standout Properties Limited, hails paternally from Otor-Owhe Kingdom and maternally from Ozoro Kingdom.

In a show of strong regional solidarity, the five blocs of Ozoro—Uroto, Erovie, Etevie, Urude, and Orumudhe—jointly adopted him as their preferred candidate.

The endorsement also received the backing of key traditional and community institutions. Palace representatives led by Solomon Akani, alongside respected traditional figures such as the Odiologbo of Erovie, Odio Tobi, and the Oletu-logbo of Ozoro Kingdom, Oletu Egbamuno, lent their voices in support of the aspirant.

Women and youth groups were equally vocal in their commitment. The Ewheya leadership, under Comfort Ikrege, and youth representatives led by Marvis Ogbu pledged to mobilise grassroots support to ensure Obomovo’s electoral success.

The motion for his endorsement was formally moved by Friday Arah and seconded by Sir (Chief) Raphael Oro Afemari (JP), drawing resounding approval from the gathering.

Stakeholders at the event described the development as a defining moment for Ozoro Kingdom and the broader Isoko nation, noting that the consensus reflected a collective determination to present a credible and widely accepted candidate for the Green Chamber.

President-General of the Ozoro Progressive Union, Berkley Asiafa, said the kingdom had spoken with one voice and would deploy its full political strength toward securing victory for Obomovo at the polls.

This endorsement is not merely symbolic,” Asiafa stated. “It represents a firm commitment by our people to rally support across communities and translate this collective aspiration into electoral success.”

Also speaking, Chief Raphael Oro Afemari (JP), the Adhesie of Ozoro, expressed confidence in Obomovo’s dedication, adding that the aspirant would remain committed to the welfare of the people and uphold the interests of the kingdom.

The event, which also hosted members of the Oghale Isoko2027 political structure, was marked by a strong sense of unity and shared purpose.

Speakers consistently emphasised the need for inclusiveness, cohesion, and strategic political positioning as the 2027 elections approach.
In his response, Obomovo expressed deep appreciation to the traditional ruler, leadership, and people of Ozoro Kingdom for what he described as an overwhelming and historic show of support.

He pledged not to take their trust for granted and assured them of fair, inclusive, and respectful representation if elected.

Describing the moment as a significant homecoming, Obomovo said the endorsement carried a profound responsibility.

“Today, I returned home and Ozoro spoke,” he said. “What began as a reception for the Oghale Isoko2027 team became a united declaration from my mother’s land. I am deeply humbled by this show of love and confidence. This is not just support—it is a call to serve, and I accept it with full commitment.”

The endorsement places Obomovo in a strong early position in the race, as he prepares to challenge other aspirants, including incumbent lawmaker Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, in what is expected to be a keenly contested contest for the Isoko North and South Federal Constituency seat in 2027.
