2027: Obasanjo, Atiku, Others Meeting Not A Threat – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that a possible alliance between former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, is not a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, said this in an interview with Punch.

Basiru was reacting to a meeting held by Obasanjo and his erstwhile deputy, Atiku, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday.

Atiku led a high-powered delegation, which included former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, and other political stalwarts to the meeting.

The delegation, which arrived at Obasanjo’s Abeokuta residence located within the precinct of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library at exactly 12.37pm, was received by elder statesman, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe.

He said:

“I am here on a courtesy call. I am not here to talk politics.”
But the politicians visit sparked rumours of a possible coalition with the former President as the arrowhead.
The speculation was further confirmed by a source privy to the discussion, who stated, “Yes, we are trying to see how we can collectively work together to salvage this country ahead of 2027.”
