Gbagi Coasting To Victory at Delta Tribunal, Judges Urged to be Firm

Gbagi Coasting To Victory at Delta Tribunal, Judges Urged to be Firm

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, March 18th, 2023 election, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi is hoping on the Tribunal to nullify Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori's declaration as winner of the governorship election in Delta State.

It was reliably gathered that, despite the victory in the PDP family, it never change the fact that; there are weaknesses in our electoral system as criminal-minded politicians have identified Delta State as a haven to contest elections.

The 2023 gubernatorial election in the State was advantageous for those with questionable and fraudulent qualifications. They bought themselves to emerge as candidates and their emergence was the height of mockery, abuse, and misuse of Democrat privileges.

A candidate who probated and rebated knows fully well that he has no business contesting the election after withdrawing some certificates which he tendered and affirmed their correctness at the initial stage.

He rebated when he went back to Withdraw same, proving that they were not valid and proper for someone who wants to venture into the business of governance.

Some of them were only emboldened to proceed egregiously with confidence that the tribunal judges will be bought over and pervert justice in their favor.

In light of the above, Judges in the Delta State election petition tribunal are hereby put on notice that; Deltans are watching keenly, encouraging them to be brave, courageous, and firm to do the right thing.

The Judiciary once displayed bravery when Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s election as governor of Delta State was annulled in 2010, at that time, it could be said that the Judiciary strengthened itself to take decisive action that clarified the credibility of Uduaghan's election.

It is expected that the Tribunal will act justly on the petition filed by  Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party SDP, challenging the declaration of Sheriff Oborevwori as the winner.

Gbagi's petition also made vivid that those who contested the election with him were not qualified for the race, and that the prayer was to remove persons who have no business contesting the governorship election in the State. As such, if only one person is qualified among ten, then the qualified person is the winner and should be declared the winner for participating in the race with the right credentials.

The Tribunal Judges are encouraged to do the right thing, they must be free of any improper influence. As observed by Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, the Judiciary remains the last hope to save Delta State from 'rape on democracy',

The Tribunal is urged to decide cases solely on the evidence presented in court by the parties and by the law.

Gbagi should be coasting to victory if only relevant facts and laws should form the basis of the Judge’s decisions. Gbagi will coast to victory if judges discharge their constitutional responsibility to provide fair and impartial Justice on this historical matter.
