Delta Tribunal: Gbagi's 79-Page Petition Stands, SDP Hopeful of Victory
GUBERNATORIAL candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP, March 18 2023 election in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi has
assured Deltan that the party is hopeful of victory at the Delta State Governorship Election Tribunal.
He made this known on Monday while appreciating the National Working Committee, NWC of SDP for acting swiftly to purge itself of double agents who wanted to trade with the party's assets.
It could be recalled that Kenneth Gbagi filed a 79-page petition at the Tribunal challenging the declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as winner of March 18, 2023 governorship election in the State.
The NWC of the party in a letter, disowned the State SDP Chairman, Ambassador Oke Idawene who acted presumptuously and worked against the party's decision of challenging the victory of Sheriff Oborevwori in court.
However, the national working committee of SDP, recently affirmed that they are fully in support of Gbagi's quest to challenge the outcome of the election at the tribunal and went further to dissolve Oke Idawene's led executive and suspend Oke who through his counsel, E. S. Ogbomade, wrote to the Delta State governorship election petition tribunal, asking for withdrawal of the party from the petition filed by Gbagi.
In another letter to the tribunal, National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, and National Legal Adviser, Aderemi Abimbola, said Ogbomade was an unknown counsel to SDP, and could never act on behalf of the party at any level.
Gbagi insisted that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori's qualification to contest for the Delta State Governorship seat remains questionable and Deltan believes that the Tribunal will not pervert Justice.
Gbagi assured that his unbeatable and well-articulated facts before the Tribunal will result in victory at the state governorship election tribunal.
He added that those who are working for the recovery of the state from chronic borrowers and clannish leaders would enjoy when the state is fully liberated.
