Ogbe-Ijoh/Aladja Crisis Must End: Mamamu Takes Protest Letter to Buhari, Says Okowa has not done enough
Niger Delta Youth Leader, Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young Chief has written an open letter to His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to wade into the lingering and reincarnating crises between the Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja people in Warri South West and Udu Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The youth leader had in an open letter he personally signed dated on Friday November 18th 2022, called on President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chief Security officer of the country to take over the matter.
According to Amb. Mamamu, he said as a youth leader in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, he has completely lost confidence on the leadership capacity of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to resolve the matter.
Mamamu noted that the crises have lingered for too long under the reign of Okowa as Governor of the state, stressing that he has not done enough in putting an end to the crises, adding that the battle has claimed so many lives already.
Speaking further through the letter, Amb. Bene had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff to use the said disputed parcel of land to build army Barracks, adding that with such development, the lingering crises will be put to an end.
However, Amb. Bene Youkore Mamamu asserted that he is backing the Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL), a pressure group in Ogbe-Ijoh that had recently protested and have warned Governor Okowa and all political parties in the state not to visit Ogbe-Ijoh to campaign.
The Youth ambassador maintained that if the Governor and other political parties in the state cannot see common grounds to resolve the crises then it is also correct when the group said no peace, no campaigns in Ogbe-Ijoh.
Nevertheless, Mamamu said since it appears that bringing permanent peace between the two warring communities is something that is above the Governor, he has no other choice than to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to wade into the matter as the Chief Security Officer of the country.
