Nigeria is now your constituency-INYC tells Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege and Demands for Delta State Ministerial Slot

The Itsekiri National Youths Council (INYC) has admonished the Deputy Senate President (DSP) Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to always remember that his current position has conferred on him the toga of a statesman with the whole Nigeria as his constituency and not just his Delta Central Senatorial district anymore in the 9th Assembly anymore.

President of the Itsekiri apex youths body, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro made this remark in Warri in a chat with newsmen saying “the responsibility of the DSP is quite an enormous task that requires the political sagacity of a real statesman devoid of petty tribal sentiments in the discharge of his functions”, even as the body congratulates him on his emergence as the Deputy Senate President.

The INYC commended the critical stakeholders in Nigeria political space for ensuring equitable distribution of major political offices amongst all interest groups in the country as this will go a long way to deepen and strengthen the growth and development of our nascent democracy, adding that “this no doubt will create confidence in the manner our Nigeria democracy is being run”.

According to the INYC boss, “consequent upon the need to ensure equitable distribution of political offices and the need to replicate such fairness and justice in our local polity in Delta state, the coast is now very clear for either Delta North senatorial district or Delta South senatorial district to produce the next ministerial slot for the state.

But since it was Delta North that produce the immediate ministerial slot allocated to Delta state in the first four years of president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration that just winded up, it is only natural and fair to reason that the next ministerial slot for Delta state will definitely come from Delta South senatorial district”.

He further stated that considering the fact that Itsekiris are both the highest producer of crude oil and gas in the state and the second largest in the entire country, couple with their superlative credentials as the ethnic nationality that produced over 35 percent of the total votes secured by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state, the Itsekiri National Youths Council is therefore demanding that for the sake of equity, fairness and justice, His Excellency, President Buhari should as a matter of expediency and exigency accord the Itsekiri nation the Delta State Ministerial slot in appreciation of their contribution to his electoral victory in the 2019 general elections.

While stating that they are prepared to ensure a smooth and peaceful working environment in their areas of jurisdiction for the Federal, state Governments and oil majors to operate, he charged the DSP to keep the flag of Delta flying in the 9th Assembly and ensure he leaves a lasting legacy for prosperity in the democratic landscape of Nigeria.
