Press Statement

IPDI URGES OKOWA TO ADDRESS DIEBIRI COMPLAINTS OVER DESOPADEC APPOINTMENT

It is our humble call that Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa should urgently heed to the out cry of Diebiri kingdom over DESOPADEC appointments. Diebiri kingdom felt shortchanged and should be given a sense of belonging.

The shutdown of operations of Batan oil flow station could be a moved by the ptotesting community to register their anger. The military deployed should be lawful and avoid any intimidation of residents of the community.

It is a clear fact that Diebiri is an oil producing kingdom and is entiled to be considered for top DESOPADEC appointments. It is amazing that since the inception of the establishment of Desopadec ,Diebri is yet to be considered for appointments into the commission.

The issues raised by Deibiri indigenous oil producing community in Delta State should be holistically tackled.
Their protest is not out of place and their demands be x-rayed for the sake of equity and fair play.

It may interest you to know that Deibiri people are peace loving Ijaws and it's their genuine right to demand what legitimately belong to them in terms of political appointments after they have given their best during and after Governor Okowa relection .

We demand that Delta State Government, led by Dr Ifeanyi Okowa should as a matter of public importance look into issues of marginalization and shortchanging of Diebiri people which has led to the shutdown of Batan flow station.

Signed

Comrade Daniel Ezekiel
National Spokesman Ijaw People's Development initiative, IPDI
