CDHR DELTA STATE WELCOMES NEW DELTA COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

The Chairman Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Delta State Branch heartily welcomes the new Commissioner of Police to the State.
The CDHR boss spoke on behalf of the entire member of the group that they will give every needed support to the new Police Boss in his quest to maintain the enduring peace that the state has been enjoying and enhancing law and order.

Comr Taiga then requested that the New Police Boss should act swiftly in addressing the issue of illegal arrest and extortion going on in Warri and its environs, regulate the act of Violation of Human Rights by Nigeria Police men, and that the Police should work within the armpit of the Law and respect fundamental Human Rights as enshrined in the constitution of the Nation while discharging their duties.

Prince Taiga also requested that the new CP should address the issue of over detention and Collection of Money from Suspect for bail even as he look forward to a successful tenure of the Police Boss.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
