Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, has called on Nigerians to ensure they submit their annual tax returns as required by law. Oyedele made the appeal during a webinar organised for HR managers, payroll officers, chief financial officers and tax managers, in partnership with the Joint Revenue Board. Speaking in the webinar, which was shared on YouTube on Friday, he noted that a significant number of Nigerians are still failing to file their self-assessment tax returns. “In terms of filing returns, you need to file annual returns as employers for your employees. PDP insists Ibadan convention still valid after court declines mandamus

ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday moved quickly to steady nerves within its ranks after the Federal High Court in Ibadan declined to grant an order of mandamus in a case linked to the party’s internal leadership dispute, insisting that the Kabiru Turaki–led structure that emerged from the Ibadan Convention remains firmly in place. The party said the ruling, delivered earlier in the day, did not amount to a judgment on the validity of the Ibadan Convention, but was instead anchored on the court’s view that granting the relief sought would mean sitting on appeal over decisions of courts of coordinate jurisdiction. In a statement issued shortly after the judgment and signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP said it had already set in motion the process of challenging the ruling, even as it urged members to remain calm and focused. “We are aware of the judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, delivered this morning, which esse...

Breaking: Court Nullifies PDP National Convention In Ibadan

A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in the Oyo State capital on November 15, 2025, declaring it invalid. In its ruling, the court also barred members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as national officers of the party. Delivering judgment on Friday, the court held that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised leadership of the PDP pending the conduct of a valid national convention. The decision marks a significant development in the ongoing internal wrangling within the main opposition party, which has faced months of legal and political battles over the control of its national structure. The PDP has been mired in a leadership tussle following its dismal performance in the 2023 general elections, with multiple factions laying claim to its national leadership.

NAFDAC said the move aligns with its statutory responsibility to safeguard Nigerians, particularly children, adolescents and young adults, from the harmful use of alcohol.
