A woman captured attention during nationwide protests against the severe economic hardship in Nigeria on Thursday, by demonstrating with an empty pot on her head, symbolizing her struggle with hunger.
The woman, visibly emotional, stood out among the hundreds of protesters at the gathering. Her cries of “Ebi o, ebi o,” which translates to “hunger, hunger” in English, echoed through the crowd as tears streamed down her face, drawing attention to her plight.
This poignant display comes as protests erupted across Nigeria, with demonstrators in various states voicing their discontent over the country’s economic challenges.
Some regions saw significant gatherings, while others experienced deserted main roads.
Naija News reports that the #EndBadGovernance protesters are currently protesting in Lagos.
Youths in their numbers converged on Ikeja Undebridge where they are expected to move to Ojota.
The protest which began today is planned to last till August 10.
The aggrieved individuals converged around 8 am in their numbers chanting solidarity songs and holding placards calling for better governance.
The protest is taking place amid tight security presence including the police, LNSC, and civil defence.
Although there were scanty vehicles on the roads like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Alausa routes, youths in their hundreds are however marching from the Underbridge.
