President General Partners NUJ for Development in Delta Communities 
As a proactive measure to attract sustainable development to Ughelli and its communities, the newly elected President General of the Ughelli Descendants Union (U.D.U), Chief Samuel Akpimegi has established a collaborative partnership with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ughelli Correspondent Chapel in the Ughelli Kingdom,  Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The collaboration became successful on Monday, November 13th, 2023 as chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ughelli Chapel, Hon. Sunday Apah, led Journalists in the chapel on a courtesy visit to Chief Akpimegi who was recently inaugurated alongside his executives in Ughelli.

The NUJ chairman expressed gratitude to the President General and executives of the Ughelli Descendants Union over the initiative which was geared towards promoting reportage that will further attract meaningful development to the people.

The President General who treated the Journalists to a rousing welcome hinted that he is collaborating with the media to attract the needed development, in the area of security and educational empowerment to the entire Ughelli Kingdom. 

According to him; "I want to commend the state government for putting infrastructure in place to promote a conducive learning environment, to some extent, schools around are doing well, government Schools, I need your help in the media project and report issues that will attract more development to Ughelli people.

The P.G. commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwri for employing teachers to manage the classrooms. He, however, adds that students in Ughelli Kingdom need scholarships and empowerment to take care of their educational needs.

The NUj chairman, Sunday Apah, who appreciated the collaboration said; "This visit signifies the importance of fostering a strong relationship between our two organizations, we are working towards a common goal of promoting the welfare and development of our beloved Ughelli Kingdom.

He said; "Ughelli Descendants Union, on the other hand, is a noble organization that represents the aspirations and concerns of the Ughelli community. It plays a pivotal role in preserving our cultural heritage, promoting social cohesion, and driving community development initiatives. Together, we can forge a strong alliance that will bring about positive change and progress in Ughelli.

"Let us work hand in hand to promote the interests of the Ughelli community, to uplift our people, and to contribute to the overall development and progress of our beloved nation, Nigeria".

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
