CDHR Visits Delta CP, Warns officers against extortion, Negligence of Duties Israel Joe, Edariese Harrison Itulia, Osaigbuvo others commends CP

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Muhammed Ari has affirmed collaboration between the state police command and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR for protection of rights, information sharing to effectively secure the State.

The police boss made this known on Wednesday when he played host to the interim committee of CDHR Delta State Executives led by Barrister, Godwin Umuku, flunked with Comrade Israel Joe, Elder Comrade Edariese Peter, Harrison Itulia, Osaigbuo and others
who were at the command headquarters to present to the police a letter of expelling Comrade Kehinde Taiga, Jonathan Giama and other defiant erring members.

During a presentation to the CP, Godwin Umuko briefed the State Commissioner of Police, about activities and commitment of CDHR towards handling social-economic issues as interventional efforts to protect the socio-economic rights of the people.

He also lamented that
Questionable characters have infiltrated the group, internet fraudsters are masquerading as human rights members and activists.

Speaking further Godwin Umuko said CDHR has done a lot to remove those with questionable characters and those whose activities were found wanting has been expelled and shown the way out.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, said, “We are already collaborating and my relationship with you is yielding results”.

The CP warned against extortion, adding that he has warned all officers he met on the ground to desist from any form of corrupt practices.

Going forward he said that he has activated his anti-corruption team to monitor activities of the officers to achieve better policing and efforts are in place to ensure that all divisional police officers are proactive and working

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
