Mr.  Simeon Daregha,  Senior Special  Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on political matters and Prince,  Pius Labo,  Senior Special  Assistant  on Peace building and Conflict  Resolution to the Delta State Governor have commended their boss for creating  the opportunity  to remedy the uneven spread of Delta State Independent Electoral  Commission (DSIEC)ward creation done during the Chief James Ibori's tenure as Governor of the State. 

Daregha and Labo who spoke separately to journalist shortly after the latter did an oral presentation when DSIEC top management  visited the Bomadi Local Government  Area to received oral request from communities which he said Kalafiogbene/ Ekamta INEC ward 5, was the only ward in the LGA that did not benefit from DSIEC ward creation, and it has been  hanging since 2001. 
 
The SSA on Political  matters to Okowa disclosed that, Kalafiogbene/Ekamta have eight political  units and amount to over twelve thousand votes. He also said that communities  that make up the ward 5, are Ekamta, Ayaekamtagbene, Kalafiogbene, Helohim city, Opuro Zion and other satellite settlements which he stressed make them to merit it,  if an additional  ward is to be given to the Bomadi local government  area of the State. 

Labo on his part,  rated Okowa high for feeling the heartbeats of the people from the wards saying its an opportunity  for the Kalafiogbene/Ekamta INEC ward 5. to be granted their long desire which which has been hanging.

While stating emphatically that, in the last DSIEC ward creation, it was only Ward 5. Kalafiogbene/Ekamta that was left out, adding that though others have the right to ask for ward but it is only the ward 5. that has the right to have it ,to balance the equation in the Bomadi LGA,  he opined.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
