Nigeria Experiences Worst Recession  As GDP Declines The world’s most populous black nation, Nigeria has officially slid into its worst economic recession in over three decades. Gross domestic product numbers released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday, the nation recorded a contraction of 3.62 percent in the third quarter of 2020. This is the second consecutive quarterly GDP decline since the recession of 2016. The cumulative GDP for the first nine months of 2020, therefore, stood at -2.48 percent. The last time Nigeria recorded such cummulative GDP was in 1987, when GDP declined by 10.8 percent. According to World Bank and NBS figures monitored by TheCable, this is also the second recession under President Muhamadu Buhari’s democratic reign — and his fourth as head of state.

Makinwa during a question and answer session on her new episode of Toke Moments on Youtube said she had surgery done on her body and had a lip filler. According to her, she had the surgery to enhance her body to look better and curvy in clothes. The 36-year-old, noted that she does not regret her decision. Toke said: “ Yes I worked on my body but my breast is real. I had a lip filler because I wanted to launch my lipstick brand but now I dont think it is necessary. “Also I enhanced my body after I got my fibroids removed. COVID-19: China Bars Nigerian Citizens From Entry Chinese authorities have temporarily suspended entry into China by Nigerians and non-Chinese nationals in Nigeria holding valid Chinese visas or residence permits due to the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19. The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria made the announcement in a notice on Thursday. It said it would no longer issue certified health declaration form for non-Chinese nationals in the country. Delta State Government Relaxes Curfew From 10pm To 6am Daily The Delta State Government has announced further relaxation of the curfew imposed in the state by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ibie, noted that the curfew will now be enforced between 10pm to 6am daily beginning from today (Wednesday). Governor Okowa had imposed curfew in the state following the violence that rocked the peaceful #EndSARS protests which was hijacked by hoodlums that led to destruction of public and private property in some parts of the state.

ASUU strike: FG dismisses eight months unpaid salary claims The Federal government has dismissed claims by university lecturers that they have not been paid for eight months. Emeka Nwajiuba, the Minister of State for Education, insisted that such a claim was unfair. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Nwajiuba said some lecturers got excess salaries and had to refund it to the government. There has been some controversy over the introduction of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) into the educational system. COVID-19: Senate React As FG Approves ₦5bn Bailout For Aviation Sector The Nigerian Senate has appealed to the federal government of Nigeria rescinds its decision on the projected  N5bn bailout fund set to be given to the operators of the aviation sector due to economic effect of of the COVID-19 pandemic.
