Ayakoromo Development Forum (ADF) has alleged gross violation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Constitution and guidelines, the under PDP Ward 7 has kicked against the deliberate inclusion of some civil servants into the newly constituted Ayakoromo Ward 7 PDP executives by the selected six committee members mandated to conduct the congress.
The Forum had also asked those in question to humbly resign their positions or else, "get ready to face petition and the law within the next 48hrs"
The aggrieved persons further called on the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the state PDP Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso as well as the Chairman PDP Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Ebike Oromoni to as a matter of urgency intervene to correct every abnormality before the situation escalate to another level.
Addressing the Press immediately after emergency meeting held in Ayakoromo yesterday 9th March 2020, the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum, Mr. Tamaraupreye Ekpegha and Joseph Morkoroama, said the party constitution does not allows people to hold dual offices in the Peoples Democratic Party and the country's Constitution equally barred civil servant from playing active politics, and that they would stand to defend the party's constitution and insisted that due process should be strictly followed.
The duo while backing their point with the PDP Constitution stressed that, Section 48 (1) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended in 2017) clearly prohibits members from holding dual offices. It states inter alia:
48 (1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, any member holding
any office in the Party at any level shall be deemed to have resigned
that office, if he or she assumes any of the following offices -
(a) President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
(b) Vice President of the Federal Rep of Nigeria;
(c) Minister of the Federal Rep of Nigeria;
(d) Federal Minister;
(e) Secretary to the Government of the Federation;
(f) Special Adviser or Special Assistant to the President or
Vice President of Nigeria;
(g) Membership of the National &
State Assemblies;
(h) Ambassador;
(I) Governor or Deputy Governor of a State;
(j) Commissioner, Special Adviser or
Special Assistant to the Governor or Deputy Governor of a State; (k) Chairman, Vice Chairman or Councillor of a Local Government Council; (l) Any full time employment or appointment in the public service of the Federation, State or Local Government.
The forum stated that the above grounds informed its call on all concerned in the newly constituted Ayakoromo Ward 7 PDP Exco members to resign from the civil service if they are so interested to involved in party politics or face petition and legal action within 48hrs.
" Those our Ward 7 leaders that conducted the congress should immediately remove any officer that falls into any of the above category for peace and tranquility to reign in our great party"
It would be recalled that, the same Ward 7 Ayakoromo leaders that earlier kicked against the ambition of Mr. Damian Omgbu, Mr. David Oweikezi, Mr. Arogbo Amadeinmo, Mr. Wilico Orugeni and Mr. Alero Yayoro who wanted to contest for Ward 7 PDP Chairman as well as other positions in the recent Ward Congress just because they where all serving civil servants.
"Nobody is above the party constitution, hence let us abide by our constitution as it is supreme and its provisions shall be a binding force on all members and organs of the Party'' the statement adds
