4th Edition of Sheriff Mulade's Quiz, Essay Competition Boost Quality Education, Strengths Ethnic Peace in Delta

As a means of promoting peaceful coexistence between the three ethnic   groups, Ijaws Itsekiri's and Urhobo's in Warri Delta State, on Wednesday witnessed the participation of their secondary school students in the 4th edition of the Sheriff Mulade's Quiz, Essay Competition.


The 2020 annual competition, referred to as the 4th edition of Sheriff Mulade Quiz, Essay took place at Hussey College Warri, Delta State, with 8 secondary schools on participation.

The competition has served as a potent model to sustain and Strength Peace between Ijaws, Itsekiri and Urhobos in Delta State. 



The competition also served as a means to bridge the gap between Riverine/Rural Schools and their urban counterparts.

The 4th edition ended on a good keynote as Alema Secondary school, Warri North LGA, Delta State emerged winner of the Rural/Riverine Quiz & Essay competition Organized by a front line Niger Delta leader, Amb. Comrade Sheriff Mulade.

The schools that participated in the competition; include Ogbe-Ijoh Secondary School, Okerenkoko Secondary School, Ogidigben Grammar School, Alema Secondary School, Obodo Secondary School, Erejuwa Secondary School, Egbokodo Secondary School, and Oloduwa Secondary School, from the three local government area in Warri, participating. 



The program usually features essay writing for the Senior Secondary School classes and quiz competition for the Junior Secondary School classes.

According to Comrade  Sheriff Mulade in his opening speech he discloses that "This competition was organized to sustain the existing peace among the ethnic nationalities in the communities within the three (3) Warri LGAs, particularly the Ijaws, Itsekiri’s and the Urhobo people. 

The Alema secondary school, Abigborodo. Warri North, Emerges the winner with the Prize of N100,000. 

After intense competition amongst the schools, Alema Secondary School emerged the winner of the quiz and received a sum of N100,000.


  Egbokodo Secondary School came second and received a cash prize of N70,000. While Okerenkoko Secondary school came in the third position and received the sum of N50,000.

For essay writing, Egbokodo Secondary School emerged as the winner, receiving N50,000 as a cash prize. Alema Secondary School in second place received N30,000 while Erejuwa Secondary School coming in at third place received N20,000.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
