His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri has commended the Ugborodo people for peacefully putting in place the Governing Council of Ugborodo Community Trust (UCT) after years of interim administration arrangements.

The highly revered Warri monarch gave the commendation earlier today Monday August 19, 2019 when he played host to memers of the Austin Oboroegbeyi Esq.-led UCT, stressing that Ugborodo is a very important Community in the scheme of things in Itsekiriland, Delta State and Nigeria generally. 

While stressing that there was so much in Ugborodo to go round everybody in the atmosphere of peace, the Warri monarch appealed to a few persons who may still be aggrieved to give peace a chance and allow the UCT to settle down to work, even as he empaneled a committee of Chiefs of Ugborodo origin to immediately sit with such agrieved persons and other key stakeholders with a view to attaining absolute peace in UCT and Ugborodo generally. The concerned Chiefs of Warri Kingdom are: Ayirimi Emami (Ologbotsere), Hon Thomas Ereyitomi (Akatigbiayeola), Edwin Olley (Eni), Tunde Okoturo (Ugo) and Mercy Olowu (Eriegwa).

Ogiame further advised the Chairman (Oboroegbeyi Esq.) to ensure wide consultations with his co executives and other members of UCT before taking critical decisions, even as he offered royal prayers for the success of the UCT under his leadership and Ugborodo generally. 

Responding on behalf of the UCT, the Chairman, Austin Oboroegbeyi Esq., while thanking the Warri monarch for standing firmly with Ugborodo Community during the turbulent period which witnessed the interventions of the Federal and Delta State governments, opined that it is only God Almighty that can thank Ogiame enough for his role in the sustained peace in Ugborodo Community. 

Some UCT Executives, Trustees and other members in attendance at the event which was well attended by Ugborodo elders, women and youths include Prince Perry Atete (Igbajor), Pastor Benson Babine, Austin Ajurenmisan (Vice Chairman), Dr. Ayo Ayomike (Secretary), Mike Okoturo (Treasurer), Comrade Alex Eyengho (Financial Secretary), Andrew Emami (Auditor), Vincent Neburagho (Asst. Secretary), Benson Olueh, Bawo Neburagho among others several others.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
