Urgent Need to Fix Deplorable Ugheli-Udu Road: A Call to Action for Governor Oborevwori Udu LGA Chairman

The Ugheli-Udu road, particularly the stretch by the Udu wood market and Daddy's Bakery, stands as a glaring testament to the neglect faced by the people of Udu Local Government Area (LGA). This vital artery not only serves as a crucial link between Udu and neighboring local government areas but also plays a significant role in the economic activities of the region. Yet, the current state of this road is nothing short of deplorable, and it is high time that we address this pressing issue.

The Ugheli-Udu road is more than just a thoroughfare; it is a lifeline for countless businesses and residents. The Udu wood market, a hub for timber and related products, relies heavily on this road for the transportation of goods. Similarly, Daddy's Bakery, a local favorite, depends on the smooth movement of supplies to meet the demands of its customers. The economic implications of a well-maintained road are profound, as it directly affects trade, employment, and the overall prosperity of the community. 

However, the current condition of the Ugheli-Udu road is a source of embarrassment for the people of Udu LGA. Potholes, erosion, and inadequate drainage systems have turned what should be a bustling route into a treacherous path that deters commerce and endangers lives. The shame of navigating this road is compounded by the fact that it connects over four local government areas in Delta State, making its neglect not just a local issue but a regional one.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Udu Local Government Chairman Olorogun Vincent Oyibode must recognize that their leadership is being tested by the state of this road. The people of Udu LGA deserve better than the current situation, which reflects more political presence than effective governance. It is time for our leaders to prioritize the needs of the community over political posturing and to take decisive action to repair and maintain this critical infrastructure.
The call for action is not merely about fixing a road; it is about restoring dignity to the people of Udu LGA. It is about ensuring that our local businesses can thrive without the constant threat of infrastructural failure. It is about providing safe passage for our children, our workers, and our families.

Woman Burned to Death, Accused of Kidnapping 7yrs Old Boy in Delta

By Tessy ogbemi An angry mob set ablaze a woman accused in a failed child kidnapping attempt in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.  The incident happened on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.  An eyewitness disclosed at the scene of the incident at Ekwvere Road claimed that the woman hid the seven year old boy she allegedly abducted in a sack, adding that she was even carrying a Bible on one hand.  Community sources said some residents in the area accosted the lady when they observed the way she was dragging the sack, to know what she had in it.  "She was unstable when they asked her to disclose what she was carrying in the sack. When the bag was forced open, they found a seven year old child in it.
