Traditional Rulers affirm Gbagi's Competence, Capacity to Govern Delta, Offer Royal Blessings in Patani

Traditional rulers of Ijaw ethnic nationality in Patani Local government Area have declared the Social Democratic party Governorship Candidate Chief Kenneth Gbagi as competent and have the capacity to industrialise Delta State if elected as governor come 2023.

The monarchs made the declaration, on Thursday, January 12, 2023, when the SDP governorship candidate visited the chairman of Patani Council of Traditional Rulers, Pere of Kabowei Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Barr. Shadrach Erebulu, Adou lll, whose kingdom spreads through Delta and Bayelsa states.

Chief Gbagi and members of his campaign organization were received by the; Ebenana-owei of Tarakiri Kingdom HRM DR, Owoupele Danladi Foubiri, PhD, Angulu 1, the Ebenanaowei of Kumbowei kingdom, HRM Dr Jackson Foubiriowei Angalabiri Egbain the Second and traditional council of chiefs which includes Chief Cinema Obakunkwei, Orutu Izon William, Louis Enguru 
Julie Sokore, Pathfinder Ebikebena 
Sunday Bomabebe Agoinzon Aka-Igho and a host of others.

Earlier, Gbagi, former Minister of State for Education disclosed that he would ensure infrastructural development in the riverine area of the state if elected into power in the 2023 general election.

He expressed displeasure that the State government is owing hundreds of retired civil servants who retired from active service, promising to clear their arrears when he takes over the government.

Addressing Gbagi, the young Delta monarch, His Royal Majesty, Barr. Shadrach Erebulu said; "We have listened keenly, you have taken note of those things, it is a notorious fact that you are an Industrialist, listening to you today, you have brought out great developmental ideas. 

Politics today goes beyond party boundaries, we have heard you, you have come to seek our prayers and advice, and You have our prayers. Ancestors of the three kingdoms and God in heaven will grant you your heart desires".


Secretary of Kabkwei kingdom Chief Emmanuel Oriribia Otogie the spokesperson of the day cried out that he is a retiree and has not been paid his retirement benefits, his children are graduates and they are at home without Jobs.
The people of Patani Local government area celebrated as Gbagi doles out free fuel to transporters after giving a scholarship to a young SSS three student, Godwill Precious for singing the national anthem in the Ijaw language.

Those who accompanied Ggbagi include Gbagi's campaign council led by Prof. Jiff Mokobia, Director General, Prof Augustus Atubi, deputy director general South-south Vice Chairman of SDP, Elder Fred Owotorofa, the Delta Central Senatorial District chairman and Delta Central Coordinator, Gbagi Campaign Council, Comrade Mike Dugbo and hosts of supporters.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
