COVID-19: Gombe bans commercial motorcycles
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has banned the operation of commercial motorcycles, popularly called Achaba, throughout the state as a measure to check the spread of COVID-19.
Mr Samaila Misilli, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, announced this in a statement on Monday in Gombe.
Misilli said: “Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has approved four additional measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the state with effect from 6 p.m. of Monday, April 27, 2020.
“Tricycle (Keke NAPEP) operators are allowed to carry only one adult passenger at a time.
“All calls to Muslim prayers are allowed only to notify the faithful of the time for prayers and not for observing congregational prayers in the mosques.
“All persons responsible for calls to prayers should clearly mention in Arabic and local languages that people should observe their prayers in their respective homes.’’
He also said that apart from the directives of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), “everyone is strongly advised to wear face mask at all the times.’’
