The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Worldwide, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised the decision to release and reintegrate repentant terrorists into society, describing the move as dangerous amid the country's persistent security challenges.
Speaking during a recent prophetic message shared on Facebook, Ayodele expressed concern over the policy of granting freedom to former insurgents while many Nigerians continue to suffer from kidnappings, killings and other forms of insecurity.
The cleric specifically questioned the role of political leaders in decisions that allow former terrorists to return to their communities, arguing that such actions could undermine efforts to restore peace and public confidence. “These governors have to be queried,” Ayodele said.
According to him, the continued release of former terrorists raises serious concerns at a time when several parts of the country are still battling insecurity and violent attacks.
The prophet also referenced the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, noting that many victims of kidnapping remain in captivity while former insurgents are being reintegrated into society.
“Children kidnapped in Oyo are still there, yet you are releasing terrorists,” he stated.
Ayodele lamented what he described as a contradiction in the nation's security approach, insisting that greater attention should be given to protecting innocent citizens and securing the release of abducted victims. “I feel like crying,” he said while expressing frustration over the situation.
The cleric further questioned whether such decisions could unintentionally contribute to insecurity, warning that the government must carefully consider the long-term implications of its actions. “How can a governor be increasing insecurity?” he asked.
Ayodele specifically criticised the actions of Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, describing the move as inappropriate given the ongoing security concerns in the country. “What Zulum has done is very wrong,” he said.
The religious leader maintained that security should remain a top priority for government officials and urged authorities to adopt policies that would strengthen public safety and reassure citizens.
