Men Of Honour Fellowship President Charges Believers To 'Run To Win' In Christian Race At Annual Convention

Comrade Deacon Ijolo Omo-Ohwo, President of the Men of Honour at Life Christian Centre, has charged believers to run to win in christian race, emphasizing that Christianity is not merely a religious routine but a lifelong race that requires commitment, self-discipline, and unwavering focus on Jesus Christ as the ultimate standard.

Deacon Omo-Ohwo, fielding questions from newsmen during the recently concluded Annual Men’s Convention themed “Running to Win.” said the three-day spiritual event, which ended on Sunday, was aimed at awakening believers to the seriousness of their Christian journey and the ultimate goal of spending eternity with Christ in heaven.

According to the President, the theme “Running to Win” was carefully chosen to remind Christians globally of the importance of spiritual perseverance amidst worldly distractions. He stressed that believers must strip themselves of all forms of entanglement—sins, distractions, and carnal desires—that hinder progress in the faith. Drawing inspiration from Apostle Paul’s analogy of the Christian journey as a race, he encouraged believers to pursue their faith with intentionality and zeal, ensuring they do not lose sight of the eternal reward. “We are not just running to participate,” he said, “we are running to win — to make heaven our final home.”

While the convention was hosted by the Men of Honour fellowship, Deacon Omo-Ohwo clarified that the message transcends gender and age. He noted that men, as spiritual leaders of their households, must lead by example and uphold godly principles in their homes, churches, and communities. However, the call to “run to win” is for every believer—male or female, young or old—urging all to take their spiritual responsibility seriously and follow Christ wholeheartedly. The convention served as both a wake-up call and an empowerment platform to equip believers to stay focused, resist compromise, and finish strong in their walk with God.

According to the Secretary of the Fellowship, Evivie Onoriode, the theme reflects the urgent need for men to reject stagnation and pursue purposeful living through Christ. “Running implies motion, and where there is motion, stagnation is defeated,” he said. He encouraged men to take charge in every area of life—spiritually, financially, and within the home—highlighting that the ultimate prize is the high calling of God. Onoriode stressed that Christian men must lead as prophets and spiritual heads of their families, noting that too many have fallen behind in their responsibilities, especially in providing for and guiding their households

In his words, "The impactful weekend program unfolded over three days, each designed to challenge and inspire. Friday featured a thought-provoking symposium that addressed the diverse challenges men face in today’s world. Saturday followed with a dynamic drama presentation, creatively illustrating the real-life consequences of spiritual and personal stagnation. The weekend climaxed on Sunday with a powerful sermon that tied everything together, reinforcing the central message: men must run with purpose, guided by God, to fulfill their divine destiny. “When God—the ‘G factor’—is placed at the center of our race, it transforms our struggle into grace,” Onoriode concluded, urging men to embrace their roles and run to win in all aspects of life.

Treasurer of Life Christian Centre Men’s Fellowship, Alaska Kesseina Abraham, also emphasized the importance of aligning one's life with the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. Speaking on the theme of the recent fellowship event, Abraham highlighted that the purpose of the gathering was to awaken believers to the reality of the Christian journey — a focused, intentional race towards eternity with Christ. According to him, Jesus is not just a savior but also the perfect role model and standard for righteous living. He explained that achieving the ultimate goal of eternal life requires steadfast commitment to doing the will of God, avoiding sin, and overcoming the various distractions and hindrances that may arise along the way. The message, he noted, serves as a roadmap for Christians to clearly understand what to do, what to avoid, and how to stay focused on the path that leads to heaven.

Abraham further stressed that the theme goes beyond the walls of Life Christian Centre, aiming to impact the global body of Christ. “This is not just about calling yourself a Christian,” he said. “It is about doing the will of God — living a life that reflects His values of righteousness, love, and peace.” He pointed out that when individuals, especially those in leadership, embrace godly principles, society benefits as a whole. “When the righteous are in power, the people rejoice,” he added, underscoring the role of spiritual integrity in governance and community life. Abraham concluded by urging believers worldwide to pursue love and unity, reminding them that where love exists, God’s presence and blessings abound.

The highlight of the convention was the generous distribution of essential food items, including bags of rice, baskets of garri, tins of tomato paste, groundnut oil, and salt, to widows, children's teachers, pastors. In addition to these gifts, students across all educational levels—from nursery to tertiary institutions—were recognized and rewarded with cash prizes for their academic excellence, specifically those who achieved first to third positions as well as those who graduated with First Class and Second Class Upper degrees. The special packages thoughtfully prepared for both the privileged and the less privileged, ensuring that no one was left out. Organizers emphasized the importance of making everyone feel seen and appreciated, with a special focus on bringing smiles to the faces of the underprivileged as they return home with renewed hope and tangible support.
