Protest: Women affairs minister, Asari Dokubo organise peace rally in Abuja

The Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye and leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Asari Dakubo, organised Nigerian women for a mass national peace rally against the up coming protest.

Uju Kennedy called for calm while speaking at a rally in Abuja, stating that mothers and youth leaders should key into President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by ensuring peace, unity and progress of the country.

Ohanenye said the progress and the desired good governance Nigerians are craving for can only be achieved in a peaceful nation and not in protests and chaos.

The minister made this call during a peace rally organized by the ministry of Women Affairs and the leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Asari Dakubo in Abuja, pleading that Nigerian mothers, brothers, and children should  understand that the narratives are about to change.

She said: “We are mothers and we don’t want our children to die, we don’t want this protests because when there is protest it  shatters the country which is

why I have called our children, the youth across the country and our women to organize this rally.

“The youths are in agreement with me to make the country better. This is a plea from my heart to stop the protest as government is committed to fighting for women, children and all, this cannot be done if President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is not backing me up”.

Speaking, the leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Asari Dakubo pointed that it is unfair for Nigerians to expect the president to solve  all issues facing the country in one year, since he is not a magician.

He said: “President Bola Tinubu was given a four years mandate, he still has three more years, so he should be given time. The president should be supported at this moment so he can succeed, so politics should be set aside.

National association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Lucky Emonefe, on behalf of the association has declared that they will not be party to the planned protests as long as their mothers, the women are against it.
