See how Wife of Olu, Olori Atuwatse III, Touched Lives with Free Medicals, Food Items in Delta
The Olori Atuwatse III, Wife of the Olu of Warri, on Saturday conducted a Free Medical Outreach in the Ode Itsekiri Community.
The program was piloted by her foundation, Wuwu Ore Initiative and was powered by the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The Free Medical Outreach which held in Ode Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the itsekiri people attracted prominent Deltans to the ancestral home of the Itsekir's who benefited from the initiative.
The medical outrich includes the provision of free medical checks & treatments, palliative care, malaria screening, blood glucose screenings, urine analysis and retroviral screening.
The beneficiaries after receiving their treatments, the people were given palliatives of various food items which included ground-nut oil, rice, beans, salt, wrapper and diapers and others.
Addressing the excited people of Ode Itsekiri, Olori Atuwatse II stated that the outreach is a flag off, similar programs will hold every 4 to 5 months in different communities.
She said, "this outreach is a pilot package so that the people can enjoy the coming Christmas. Wuwu Ore means the mother's love and I love my people."
In a statement with news men, the Olori said that the program is a kick start of a series of similar programs that will be held in different communities every 4-5 months.
She asserted that she is the mother of the people and she loves them and providing such care for them makes her happy.
Dr. Utake Ovwen of Oghara Teaching Hospital, who was the head of the doctors at the outreach stated the program was birthed by the Olori's desire to see to the provision of adequate health care for the people of itsekiri and Delta State at large.
He asserted that many health centres in the riverine communities are in a bad state and the Olori desired that her people enjoy adequate medical care.
He said that, "In my experience as a doctor, I have witnessed lots of children being brought from the riverine area to seek medical care because of the lack of adequate medical facilities in their communities. I have had the vision to solve this issue and the Queen also has this vision and that is the thought behind the outreach".
"We have the pharmacist, the dental team, optometrist and other health workers available to take care of the people" he added.
He also said that some of those who will receive the palliative include elderly men and women and children of Ode Itsekiri and beyond.
The outreach was partnered by Pro Health International, africa, CCFN, Madam Moesillo Foundation, Delta State Nigeria, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the State Agency for the Control of AIDS, among others.
