Shagari, Former President Laid To Rest In Sokoto The remains of the former President Shehu Shagari, were on Saturday committed to mother earth in his hometown, Shagari, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto state. The former president had passed on Friday at the age of 93. He was interred at exactly 3.30pm following a funeral prayers led by Professor Shehu Galadanchi, former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. Earlier in the day, his corpse was received at Sultan Abubakar Airport, Sokoto by a delegation of Sokoto State government led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal. Notable personalities who attended the burial included a delegation of the Federal government led by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to Government of the Federation.
