Federal Capital Territory Administration, (FCTA), has increase funding for the renovation of health care centres across the territory, it was learnt on Wednesday.  The Mandate Secretary, Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolape Fasawe made this known in Abuja at the matriculation of students of the FCT School of Nursing, Gwagwalada.   Fasawe explained that the move was to improve health care delivery, stressing that most of the call rooms in FCT hospitals were currently under renovation while the administration had commenced the payment of uniform allowance for nurses.  Fasawe represented by the Director Nursing Services, Health and Management Board, Mrs Grace Musa said the Secretariat was working with stakeholders to ensure that four bills pass third reading at the National Assembly to boost the renovation of health infrastructure in the territory.  The Pioneer Provost FCT School of Nursing, Dr. Deborah Yusuf who stressed the need for more inf...

Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the state. Oborevwori gave the assurance on Monday during the inauguration of a newly constructed and fully equipped Cottage Hospital at Iteregbi Community, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state. The governor was represented at the event by the state deputy governor, Sir Monday Onyeme. The hospital was built by the Uvwie Local Government Council under the leadership of Chief Anthony Ofoni. The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) has postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, earlier scheduled for October 15 at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary,  Debo Ologunagba , said the decision was taken due to “recent developments” within the party. “All NEC members should please note the postponement and be guided accordingly. A new date for the NEC will be communicated in due course,”  Ologunagba announced. The Department of State Services, DSS, in Delta State has intercepted a cache of sophisticated weapons in Asaba, the state capital. The operation, which took place on October 12, 2025, within the Asaba metropolis, led to the arrest of a notorious arms dealer, identified as Stephen Sabo Atoshi, and his accomplice, a 40-year-old secondary school teacher from Taraba State. The Deputy Director of Operations of the Delta State Command of the DSS, Mr Anthony Ifemeje, while briefing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday in Asaba, revealed that the suspects were part of a network trafficking small arms and light weapons from Sebha in southern Libya through Chad into Nigeria via an illegal border in Geidam, Yobe State. Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally removed his long-time ally, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and approved the immediate appointment of Hon. Benibo Frederick Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The announcement was made in a statement released by Dr. Honour Kuru Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications. According to the statement, Anabraba will be sworn in at 4:00 PM on Monday at Government House, Port Harcourt. Governor Fubara, who was reinstated earlier this year following a six-month suspension after the federal government declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, had yet to fully constitute his cabinet.
